Assateague Island

I wanted to take a minute to introduce you to Assateague Island. I posted a lot of family photos from our recent trip to the island, but I also wanted to tell those of  you who have never heard of the island about how cool it is. The island is off the coast of Maryland and on either side it boasts both a beautiful beach and a bay view of Ocean City. The island is probably most famous for its wild horses – yes, I said wild horses. As we camp around the island, wild horses will mosey around our tents and graze by our cars. It’s pretty darn cool.

Dave has been going to Assateague Island almost every year since he was born and I really love his family’s tradition (as long as it isn’t pouring rain while I am tent camping). Our trips have always involved tent camping, but you can also make day trips or tour the parks while on vacation at Ocean City too. Really though, it’s a great place for adventure and it’s only a few hours from Washington. DC. You should probably just go check it out sometime this summer, k?

And just for fun, a few photos taken of Dave as a small child on the island. How cute is he? And doesn’t he kind of look like our nephew Owen? Crazy.
