Camping on Assateague Island

assateague-island-camping-11Dave and I spent a large part of our weekend on Assateague Island with Dave’s extended family. Dave has been camping on the island with his family his entire life – his family has been camping there each year since before he was born! They have all kinds of stories about camping on the beach with wind and wild horses – but I will get into that later in the week.

We had such a lovely time with family and really enjoyed being out in nature, away from the city. We love how close we live to the island (about 3 hours from DC) and find it to be such a great time to connect with family each year! I took a few shots throughout the day of the “Baker Clan” hanging out around our camp site. I think we will really enjoy looking back at these photos someday.

Our nephew Owen was a big help for Uncle Dave while pitching our tent haha.

Owen made sure the dogs were fed…

  1. I’ve actually never been to Assateague, shame on me. My parents even lived in Colonial Beach for awhile which isn’t too far away. Looks like a lovely little gathering, per usual, you captured it beautifully!
