10 Must Have Items for your 0 to 3 Month Old Baby

Shopping for baby can be quite an overwhelming task. Who knew there could be so many options for… well everything? Erica is the researcher in the family and she poured hours into blogs and product reviews searching for the perfect items. I (Dave) decided to return the favor to the baby blog world and offer up our findings. In the first 3 month’s of little Coen’s life, a few items emerged as essential in our household (measured of course by frequency of use). The following list features our top 10 pick items (in no particular order) for new and expectant parents.

  1. Wubbanub Infant Pacifier – Fox
A boy’s best friend. This little fox goes with us everywhere. Coen holds on to it for dear life. It’s his comfort. I like to think he’s dreaming up the next big adventure with Mr. Fox.
  2. Sound Machine
*Exhale*… nothing like the peaceful sound of white noise to carry your baby to sleep. And when your baby is sleeping… so are you.
  3. Baby Bjorn Bouncer
Need a hot second to jump in the shower? Make a sandwich? Drink your coffee. The Baby Bjorn Bouncer is loads of fun for the little guy. Pick up the toy bar for a few more “hands free” moments.
  4. Auto Rock ‘n Play Sleeper
It’s now recommended that baby sleeps in your room for the first six months of their lives to minimize the risk of SIDS. I know, you just decorated such a cute nursery and they likely won’t be using it all for the first few months. It begs the question where should baby sleep? The Auto Rock ‘n Play is the answer (emphasis on auto). Laying your newborn down is already like handling a swaddle wrapped bundle of dynamite. Do yourself a favor and take advantage of the auto rocking feature of this product.
  5. Burt’s Bees Baby Burp Cloths
Before having a baby, my only real exposure to Burt’s Bees was the lip balm. I had not idea they made the softest baby burp cloths in the universe. These are by far my favorite.
  6. Boppy Nursing Pillow + Slipcover
This is definitely a high-frequency use product. Everyday. Multiple times a day. It definitely helps out mom, but it’s also a great spot for tummy time and for the little guy to bask in his milk drunk state post feeding. Make sure to pick up a few extra slipcovers as well – you’ll need them.
  7. Boon Naked Collapsible Baby Bathtub
Rub a dub dub Coen’s in the tub. This Boon Naked Bathtub was gifted to us by some dear friends and we love it. We actually pair it was the Cuddles Soft Baby Bath Pillow & Lounger and Coen couldn’t be happier.
  8. SwaddleMe Original Swaddle
We’ve tried a lot of Swaddles, but Coen started out with the SwaddleMe original and it worked great. Then he graduated. And graduated again. We will post more about the swaddle journey later. Start with these.
  9. Keekaroo Peanut Changer
For the times when your baby poops and pees on the changing table all at the same time – this is the changing pad you wished you had. Wipes up in seconds, no fabric to clean.
  10. Diaper Genie
Okay, so from a frequency of use measurement, diapers are probably the most used item. I think that’s a given. In the first few days of Coen’s life, I (Dave) went literally from 0 to 100. Yes, I had never changed a diaper before and now I’m practically a pro. This is where you put them after use. Not pictured for obvious reasons.

BONUS: Speaking of diapers and changing pads, ever hear of The Windi? Just read the following Amazon review. Enjoy.
