There are so many things that I love about living smack dab in the middle of a major city. I love the noise, the diversity, the walkability – so many things. However, after a few months of seeing only concrete this Michigan-girl starts to miss trees and fresh air. I don’t often recognize how much I am missing nature until I am driving away from District, but when I’ve driven far enough to see only trees on the side of the road I’ve find myself letting out a nice deep breath. A breath I think I might hold in too long sometimes.
This past weekend I had the lovely privilege of spending a few days at The Bellfry with a group of truly remarkable women. I really love spending time in this house, nestled in between mountains and acres of woods. It rained for most of the weekend, but I spent most of my Saturday by a fire, watching the rain fall with bottles of red wine and friends. Sounds lovely doesn’t it?
I have been so incredibly blessed to have these women in my life this year. Community is so good for the soul.
I didn’t end up taking too many photos over the weekend, but a huge thanks to Kate for taking this group shot of all of us at breakfast. I am actually in a photo on this blog! Crazy. Being in front of the camera is a rarity for photographers.
That does sound SO lovely. I’m glad you had a nice relaxing weekend! Sometimes it’s a great sign you didn’t take a ton of pictures.. too busy enjoying the moment. 🙂
Agreed! I was too busy sipping wine and enjoying the fire to pick up my camera. Thanks for reading – love hearing from another Washingtonian across the globe!
looks like a blast!
It was a lovely time. Thanks for visiting!
