Colombia – According to our Iphones

If you haven’t already been able to tell, we had such a great time with the Redeeming Grounds team in Colombia. We had such a great balance of work, building relationships, and play while taking photos and filming – just the way we like to work on projects! Just in case you didn’t get a chance to follow us on Instagram, or even if you did, I thought I would …

Back from Colombia!

I will never drink coffee the same way again. We arrived back from Colombia late last night and this morning as I made my cup of coffee I couldn’t help but think about the hands that farmed it. I am looking forward to sharing video and photos of the farmers and their families so that you can make a cup of Redeeming Grounds coffee in the morning and know the hands that …

Behind the Scenes – West Virginia

A few weeks back we spent the weekend in West Virginia shooting a promotional video for an amazing organization, Appalachian Impact. We enjoyed spending some time in the mountains, away from the city, and also spending time with such an amazing team of people. We left feeling so refreshed. Appalachian Impact assigns mentors to at-risk youth in rural West Virginia- and after spending time with some of these mentors, we can …

Unsung Heroes of Production

In a couple hours, Erica and I will be setting down in Colombia, South America for a video and photography project. The photo above shows a few items I like to have on hand yet don’t get a lot of credit – especially when we travel. Whether keeping us better organized, shedding a little extra light in the dark, or needing an extra strap to tie down pretty much anything, we …

Cherry Blossoms: A Movie

A few days ago, Erica posted about our morning at the Tidal Basin looking at the cherry blossom trees in full bloom. While Erica snapped away, I shot some video clips on my iPhone 5s and gave the slow motion feature a whirl. It’s amazing what you can capture with a device you carry in your pocket, and I often forget I have these tools on me at all times. …

Portraits of the Change Boys

In honor of tomorrow being the International Day for Street Children, I thought I would share a few portraits I did of the Change Boys while we were in Ethiopia. Those of you following our blog for a while will probably remember when we filmed Change Boys, a short documentary about a band of street boys in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia whose lives were forever changed when a group of committed …

Business Cards

We received our new Baker Stories business cards from the printer this week and are excited to have one more piece of our branding finished. We love the colors and are incredibly thankful for Chris Baker‘s design skills with our logo. Who wants one? I also realized that I never shared my Erica Baker Photography business cards with you all – so here they are! I absolutely love the pattern …

DC Youth Orchestra Program

This summer I photographed the DC Youth Orchestra Program for Bittersweet Zine  and was delighted when DCYOP hired me to take some additional portraits of their students for their brochures and marketing materials. I spent a few hours with them during their classes and rehearsals and so enjoyed getting to know their wonderful faculty and students. I was also impressed at how beautiful they sounded playing Christmas music – and at such young …

Let Us Begin

In 2012/2013 Brandon Bray and I created a short documentary called “Let Us Begin.” The film chronicles the recalibration of the Porter family, after their lives are interrupted by Debbie Porter’s diagnosis with Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) on May 18, 2009. At this time, there is no known cure for ALS, and while life expectancy of an ALS patient averages about two to five years from the time of diagnosis, those …
