DC Youth Orchestra Program

This summer I photographed the DC Youth Orchestra Program for Bittersweet Zine  and was delighted when DCYOP hired me to take some additional portraits of their students for their brochures and marketing materials. I spent a few hours with them during their classes and rehearsals and so enjoyed getting to know their wonderful faculty and students. We had the privilege of highlighting a few organizations for the Zine who are working with vulnerable children and making strides toward breaking cycles and addressing needs. In 2012/2013 Brandon Bray and I created a short documentary called “Let Us Begin.” The film chronicles the recalibration of the Porter family, after their lives are interrupted by Debbie Porter’s diagnosis with Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) on May 18, 2009. RG’s first coffee project is based in Colombia where farmers in a guerrilla zone cut down their coca (cocaine) fields and began growing coffee.
