Cherry Blossoms in the Morning

Dave and I went for a long walk through the cherry blossoms this morning before work. We did this last year during peak bloom and enjoyed it so much we decided to make it a tradition. The cherry blossoms really do live up to all of hype – the pink trees truly are breathtaking. We walked through the National Mall at golden hour and sipped coffee as we strolled through the flowers. I think this may be one of the best ways to start a day. I often hear people say that they wish the cherry blossoms would last longer, but I think the fact that they only last for a few days is part of their magic. We may just have to go a head and go tomorrow morning too…

There were people all over the place. Painting, taking photos, getting engagement photos taken, etc.

DC friends – Go see the cherry blossoms over the next few days! Yes, the crowds are a little crazy, but it’s so worth it!

PS – I might have dropped my lens cap into the Tidal Basin while shooting these photos. Dave might have just walked away from me. A tourist might have snapped a branch off a small tree to fish it out for me. Dave might have come around and eventually laid on his stomach to fish out said lens cap. Whoops.

  2. Pretty! I LOVE the scene beyond the cherry blossoms! we don’t get that here in Korea. It’s all just ugly buildings. 🙂 What a beautiful spring day!

    • Whoever decided to plant the cherry blossom trees along the Potomac was a genius. It’s like a pink oasis in the middle of a large metropolis. The week the trees bloom is always one of my favorite parts of the year. Thanks so much for visiting!!

  4. I was thinking of cherry blossoms when I saw Nancie’s photos and of the last time I saw them in DC. Thanks for bringing back some lovely memories. I wish I could see them again this year, even with the crowds. Now, maybe the temperature will get better? Thanks for sharing these beauties.
Oh, and sorry about your lens cap. Better that than your camera.

    • Thank you Liz! Haha I suppose the lens cap would have been a small price to pay for a lovely morning with the blossoms. 🙂 The cap was only 2 weeks old though…..oh well! So glad you stopped by!

  7. Absolutely stunning! I missed out on our blossoms this year. The weather wasn’t that cooperative and they didn’t seem to bloom in every part of the city like they usually do. It was nice to enjoy your beautiful photos.
