Happy Valentine’s Day

Every year my mom sends me these Valentine’s Day cookies from a local Pittsburgh restaurant. We have both lived in two states since Pennsylvania but she still makes the effort to send the little smiley faces to brighten up my Valentine’s week. This month we are focusing on giving at church and it has brought up so many memories of  growing up in a house filled with giving. I have vivid memories of packing up anonymous gifts to be sent in the mail, college students living in our basement, and praying for sponsored children all over the world. What a blessing my mother is to the people in her life through her small gifts and generosity. I have been thinking lately of ways that I can  continue the legacy of my mother and her thoughtful, intentional giving.

This Valentine’s Day I hope you find ways to celebrate all of the wonderful people on your life. Are there any ways you celebrate love and giving in your life? I am looking forward to incorporating more of this into 2014.

Dave surprised me with tickets to Peter and the Starcatcher to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It was an adorable play that had us rolling with laughter – especially in the second act. We were blessed with a snow day yesterday (after a very eventful cab ride home through the snow storm) and we are looking forward to spending a three day weekend together. I took some time to watch our wedding video that Dave gave me last year on Valentine’s Day and am continually more and more grateful for the man I have been blessed with.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all! I hope you spend the weekend with the people that you love.
