Skyline Drive in the Fall

Although we love DC in the fall, there is nothing quite like a drive through the mountains to take in the glory of autumn’s colors. Last weekend we headed out of the city with our good friends James and Sarah to take an afternoon drive through Shenandoah National Park’s Skyline Drive. We packed ourselves some fall snacks and a thermos full of hot apple cider and spent a few hours meandering though the mountain roads, stopping at look out points along the route. It’s a breathtaking drive and I highly recommend taking an afternoon to go check it out – I bet the colors are even more vibrant this week!

Gorgeous, right? Although I often complain about the summer heat and winter cold, I really do love living in an area where we get to experience all four seasons.

We also visited Shenandoah’s Skyline drive during the summer, you can check those photos out at these blog posts: Sunrise in Shenandoah National Park & Sunset at Shenandoah National Park
