“Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.” – Matthew 6:6, The Message
The Bellfry. It’s like a breath of fresh air right when you need it. The Lord brought me to the verse above while reading in the home’s library one morning and it felt like a direct command. This beautiful retreat home nestled among mountains and trees has been a secluded place for so many people needing a refuge from the stress and striving of the city and I am always happy to find my secluded place there.
We are about 30 women who meet around tables set with coffee cups each month and wine glasses each week to build each other up. We all came seeking deeper relationships and to build rooted community and as we all unpacked our bags that first night at the Bellfry I couldn’t help but smile and realize that we’ve done it. The weekend felt like a few days at a family home and each meal felt like a gathering of old friends. What a blessing these women are in my life.
The Bellfry sits on a working ranch, so you know we had to visit a few animal friends. How can such an awkward animal be so photogenic?
I love these women. What a beautiful weekend. Thanks friends!
PS – You can see a little post about our weekend last year at: A Weekend at the Bellfry
such a beautiful weekend, thanks for sharing dear!
Thanks Margo. It was lovely!
Lots of my favorite people on that one!
They are pretty great, aren’t they?
Hey Erica 🙂
I loved that excerpt from Matthew – it seems crazy that something written in an utterly different time could make so much sense thousands of years later! Those pictures are gorgeous – you captured the mood of the oncoming dusk perfectly :). And I laughed a little about the photogenic chickens ;).
