Ethiopia here we come

On August 9th, Erica and I board a plane and begin an 18 hour journey to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to work on a short documentary film project. Feelings of anxiety, excitement, and anticipation fill our heads as we wrap up the pre-production phase of the project and take care of last minute details. The focus of our trip is to capture a story about street boys in Ethiopia. Although we can give a “best guess” as to the story before we go, we won’t quite have a clear picture until we’re on the ground. Fortunately, our contact in Addis is doing a lot of leg work before we arrive.

Since the launch of our Razoo page, the treatment for our film has changed, and our concepts and potential stories have evolved with the lives of the people we are going to follow. Potential characters have come and gone, but the story we’re stumbling on is growing more exciting by the day!

I believe the beautiful thing about creating a documentary film is its dynamic nature. The story is dictated by life, and life changes directions often. It keeps you on your toes and ready to go where the story takes you, and it forces people who like structure (like me) to be flexible.

Erica and I would like to thank all those who have supported our trip and look forward to showing you the final project. We’re almost at our funding goal and thank all those who gave for their generous donations.
